Heresy Era Night Lords (Primarch now included)

So I am starting Warhammer 30k and have decided on starting the night lords legion. My plan is to get the normal troops looking more like pre heresy marines so not as many skulls or trophies and no kyroptera helms for non-kyroptera members. I currently have Konrad Curze (work in progress), Contemptor dreadnaught (minus the arms), and a tactical squad (1st claw). I plan on getting another tactical squad along with more of the shoulder pads and a set of heavy bolters so I can get some more firepower. I will post more as I paint but let me know of what you think I can do to make it better, I am trying to get it as accurate to the heresy as possible.

Contemptor's arms came in today, did as much work on them as I can for now but I'm not quite sure what to add to it. Any help would be appreciated.

Put a wash on everything and I think they are looking much better, I just pre ordered Sevatar so that should come soon, Konrad Curze is being worked on but not sure how much I will be working on it. As always any tips, criticism, or pointers are welcome.

looking good. it's a hard scheme to not come out hokey. sevatar and kurse are great looking models, looking forward to seeing yours!

So i have come across a problem in transport that the paint on FW models easily strips off when transporting them. Anyone have any good fixes for this? i dont want to use a sealent on my models because it messes with the color but I havent has this problem with FW models before.

Did the scrub the models enough before you primed them? Sounds like there is still mold release on them.

yeah i scrubbed the models but the paint still chips off.

Also update, I have been swamped with work recently and haven't gotten a lot of time to paint thus one of my friends who does commission painting offered to work on it for me while i'm busy. Not my work but in case anyone wanted to see the Primarch in progress. Haven't received Sevatar yet but that one I will paint myself.

Sevatar arrived today, very easy model to get together though i am still working on filing down the gap between the model base and the scenic base. Very little flash the cleaning and gluing only took me about half an hour. Painting to come soon when i get some time.

Basically been doing a painting session the last few days whenever I got free time. Still need to do the iconography but I think it turned out well. Only problem is that the dagger in his right hand broke off and I was unable to fix it so now it just looks like he is holding his fist out. Not really sure what to do with this as it seems incomplete to me. The dead marine on the stairs belongs to the dark angels chapter (in mockery of my friend's DA army and as a reference to Tsguelsa). any comments or criticism are appreciated. next up will be the big man himself, Konrad Curze, then after him will probably be a unit of Night Lords Raptors.

First Drop Pod (still need to work on the the lightning effects on the side) not a bad first attempt in my opinion. Plan to use it as a drop pod for the contemptor. Just ordered myself a despoiler squad and some shoulderpads to make a terror squad. I dont really like the skulls and chest plates on the current terror squad upgrade kits so I'm just going for the shoulder pads and despoilers to make them look more like crusade era night lords rather than heresy era night lords.

That's awesome. My CSMs are being painted up as Night Lords so this is interesting to see it being done Pre-heresy.

The solution I settled on for paint being scraped off was to put washers all the bases (and treads!) and to invest in some magnetic tape from Office Depot. So I get to transport them upright, magnetized to a board covered in strips of magnetic tape, and not touching up their paint all the time.

Interesting, I think i might look into that. The problem right now is I need a good case to transport them in. currently the case I am using now is what is scraping the paint off of the models.

So I decided to pick up a terror squad, i still need to work out the lightning patterns on the armor but i think they came out pretty well. Also the I got an ETA on Curze, should have curze in about 3 weeks.

Been awhile since I have been able to do any 40k/30k stuff recently, job hunting and finals getting in the way. My recon squad came in and I just got them assembled, painting to come soon.
