question about measuring range when firing with a FMC

From where do you measure the range of a weapon on a FMC?

I understand a flyer is a vehicle, so you measure from each weapon, but a fmc is following the same rule as an monstrous creature and if I understand correctly, you measure from the base?

Is that so? Doesn't make sense I measure from the base if my crone is firing tentaclids to an enemy flyer. Does that mean that if I flame some infantry, I put the template next to the base and not the mouth of the crone?

Is there a rule I missed?

you have it correct. you measure from the base of an MC. by the rules, you place the flamer template at the base.

however, you can't really do this, physically, if the models are tall and close by, or if you're flaming into a ruin. by player convention (and generally in tournaments that have an actual FAQ packet), what folks generally do is hold the template over the models in question to determine what is caught under the template.

Yeah the question is more about the range. Because obviously you catch more infantry if you measure from the base than from the nose. And you lose some range when firing missiles on flyers.

Well most flyers have a base too, measure your missile bugs from your base to theirs. Same way assault is base to base, not sword to head or claw to chest you know.

Agree with the "from the base" statement. I think the torrent special rule is the only time you measure from the weapon and not the base (regarding non-vehicles), which is nice for the tyrannofex's acid spray. That gun is quite long and can get a few extra inches in!
