ok, so you get onslaught off on a single friendly unit, so now QUOTE "they can both run and then shoot in the shooting phase." My question is CAN WE SHOOT AND THEN RUN or does it have to be run and then shoot. the reason I was asking is a hive guard with haywire could move for line of sight, shoot and then run back behind a wall. Is that too good to be true?

It's not both units.

And you have to run first.

I thought it was both units. Haven't played just reading the rules. The way I see it, you have to run first then shoot since it says "shoot and then run" as you quoted and bolded. Otherwise it would say shoot/run or run/shoot or something like that. Since it clearly says Run first then shoot, I say you need to run first before shooting.

Onslaught on flyrants is pretty awesome. Other units, it's handy.

The 24" range is usually enough to support your flyrants even if a zoey or whatever rolls the power.
