Do you ever repaint your hive fleet?

Just a quick question. If ever decide (or have decided at some point) to change your Hive Fleet, do you bother repainting your old minis?

Since I started in 4th grade, when I took the brush back up as my last year of high school came to a close I realized how crummy my paintjob was on every mini I had done since I first started. Some of them were just broken and whatnot, so the ones that I knew wouldn't be redeemable were tossed. Those that were redeemable were kept and some have been repainted (others are lying in wait).

Depending on the size and quality of the paintjob, you could simply start a "new" Tyranid army in your desired scheme, so that you have two distinct fleets that you can play as you please.

Well, Nids were my 6th Army, so by that point I was a pretty good painter, and I haven't done any repaints on them (tho I have gone back and touched a number of them up), but I have a bunch of stuff from my Chaos and Flesh Tearers Armies that I did back in the 90s, and then stripped and repainted.

I actually kind of wish I kept a couple of those first really terrible ones, so I'd have more of a benchmark for just how much my painting has improved.

Still repainting mine. 2 years and counting. Its an exercise in futility. Just keep buying more models.

My tyranids started out in 2nd ed, and didn't have a coherent colour scheme. I picked one of the colour schemes I'd used and repainted everything else to match. I went with the yellow / green / bone colours as they were jarringly different from the usual red / purple schemes.

As I've gotten better, I've changed the way I paint and have gone back and fixed things I couldn't pull off well before.

I go back to mine but don't start again. When I started I picked a ok scheme and did it neatly but basic. A couple of years later I went back and put washes and details. Then a few years later I went back and did all my carapace feathering. Then last year I decided I wanted another colour so introduced red to my scheme for scything talons and spikes.

This. I've updated my scheme to v2.0 but kept my hive fleet the same.

I've not really been collecting Tyranids long enough to re-paint them. My painting is not going to win any prizes but is tidy enough to be at least tabletop. My Hive fleet scheme is as close to Behemoth as I could get. As it stands I have kept the scheme across my whole army.

The only change I have made was with my recent Harpy. My Gargolyles and Flyrant both have flesh coloured wings whereas my Harpy wings are purple. While I plan to continue future flyers with the purple wings I have no plans on re-painting the exisiting models.

The only models I have re-painted recently have been some old poorly painted Space Marines. I'm terrble at painting Space Marines, but they at least look a little better than they did.

I am on my second big color change, that is only really doing MCs honestly. I tried painting over some of the hormagaunts, but stripping two small units may be better for me these days. Forget redoing the whole fleet (if you have as many gaunts as I do anyways, 90+ HG).

I use a lot of minis that I don't use in lists like the third and fourth zoanthropes to test out colors. That has helped a lot as I go through ideas of colors and seeing how the play out.

Changed paint scheme wayyyyy back in the day when an 'army' was 10 models. Still kept the 'black' (actually really dark purple) and purple scheme I use now. Kept my old gaunts as-is from when I (re)painted then. They look god-awful now, but they remind me how much I improved over time and am still improving now. My swarm has evolved to look cooler as time goes on...

In the process of updating mine now. its a going to be a long and arduous process. Gotta get the new and unpainted stuff out of the way first though.

Been repainting mine for 6 months now... It's hard to motivate myself to do it. I'm mostly painting new models as I buy and play them. I've only painted one old Hive Tyrant and 3 Tyranid Warriors in my new paint scheme. However, I've done 5 Flyers, Toxicrene, Exocrine and the new Spawn model.

It just comes down to motivation.
