I have taken one beast of a break from the Tyranids, working through Tau and Space Wolves since, coupled with a stint in Dropzone Commander that took up the vast majority of my time for the past twelve months. I am glad to say that I've seen the error of my ways, and I've returned to the Tyranids just in time for our new toys!

I had an old thread, but I've since given my paint scheme a face lift to make it a little more polished and "clean" in appearance. Who better to test this new scheme on than the new Toxicrene!

Comments and criticisms are welcome and encouraged! If it is something within my meager skill, I will consider it going forward

Nice bug!

I'd suggest using some washes and highlights to add some more depth.

Highlights for sure, especially for the green.

Basically go with what Vespa and Mercury said, a shade and some highlighting and you will be onto a winning paint scheme

The green is actually highlighted, but the gloss varnish just completely took it out. I've been trying to decide what I want to do on the carapace itself, as it is just flat brown right now and I'm not really a fan of drybrushing or hardlining.

Actually, I think the tentaclids on flight bases are way better than magnets... Interesting.

I managed to shove real life back into the basement and get the padlock installed. Back to the hobbying!

I bought these models and started painting them the day they came out; I finished them last night. That should tell you the fantastic end-of-year I endured! With that said they are done, and I hope to follow them with a slight addition to the swarm each week. I'm also starting an escalation league with the new Necrons, but I want to continually plod forward with the bugs, even if it is only a handful of Gaunts over the week.

First off, the Venomthropes.
