Ok so another game against the same guy. This time he brought some SW to mix things up but rolled poorly on Divination.
I swapped 2 ripper units for stealers and dropped the zoey.
2 rune priests with misfortune, prescience and (please do not swear) powers.
2x10 grey hunters in rhinos
Chaptermaster with bikes
Long fangs
Devs (attached rune priest)
Cennies with grav (attached rune priest)
Hunter AA tank
Scouts
2 lone wolves
He went first but shrouded and nightfighting meant he simply killed 3 stealers who'd gone to ground.
My turn I pushed forward but didn't attempt to assault his bikes who were temptingly close. Didn't want to throw away a flyrant so early.
My templant went up a flank, onslaughted itself and got first blood on the scouts with just one of it's templates (love this unit for harassment).
With stealth ruins warlord trait I was pretty safe even when I occasionally left shrouded so he struggled to dent my army even with all the grav and twin linked bolters.
The bikemaster foolishly pushed forward while his bikes retreated. My Dima and Co handled him easily over 2 rounds.
A melyrant ate a lone wolf then went on to wipe some grey hunters with some stealer help.
My templant ate his long fangs who were sat with his scouts, claiming their ruin for himself before wiping the retreated bikes with double templates.
My malanthrope and Dima on my flank eventually reached the cennies who had pushed forward hoping to force axe them down. The Dima ate the priest with the maw attack. In hindsight he could have look out sir'ed but I wiped the unit anyway.
There's not a lot else to say really as it was a pretty brutal victory. He gave up end of my turn 3 as he had no chance of recovery and I'd already scored 5 points to his 1 on maelstrom and he had like 3 units left with me having all but 3 stealers and some wounds here and there.
I really feel that melee lists do work thanks to Malanthropes. A lot of armies are relying of Divination to get ignores cover on the worthwhile guns which seriously cripples them if they don't get it.
I'm happy with the list now and won't be bothering with the Toxicrene. I've ordered 2 Dimas to replace my current mawloc proxies. Will look at podding in some zoeys in the future maybe.
