Losing his "reroll successful invuln saves" sucked too.

Losing the re-roll reduced his targets, but my purpose was to make all my other (please do not swear) better anyway. I would just point him at something without an invuln. 3 psychic powers at LD10 reduced to 3 psychic dice for the very same powers is what put him in the ground. At least in 6th he was playable if not competitive.

Played and won with an all-hth nid list. Admittedly it was more of a fluff game, but I liked the dynamics of the army. Game was 2k pts vs Orks.
Nid list: Melyrant x 2 Deathleaper
5 warriors, AG,FH,TS, 3 x LW/BS 15 x genestealers 18 x horma 18 x horma
Venomthrope Venomthrope
6 x raveners, rending
2 x Carnifex, CC, AG Mawloc
Ork list: Warboss on bike, str 10, lucky stick (?) Painboy on bike, 2 rerolls from grots (?) Big Mek, lucky screwdriver(?) <-in a big truck with 15 flamer dudes
24 x slugga boys + powerklaw nob 24 x slugga boys + powerklaw nob 12 x slugga boys + powerklaw nob in a small trukk 12 x slugga boys + powerklaw nob in a small trukk
15 x flamer boys in a big truck (front 14, side 12(?), rear 10) 5-6 nobs on bikes, half powerclaws, half with choppa
10 x lootas 10 x lootas
I do not know about orks much but I suppose his list was rather soft. but on the contrary, so was mine. It was kind of a challenge to a strong hth game. Anyways, to sum it up quickly, the slugga boys killed my hormas, then they killed the deathleaper with the Waagh. The bikers gailed an easy charge, then got charged and killed by melyrant + carnifex + venom (right after the mawloc DS on them, tossed 3-4 wounds and then mishapped). Other melyrant killed the big truk, which exploded and killed 8 flamer dudes. Flamer dudes lost the morale, run away and were destroyed some turns later. Raveners killed a small truck and its boys, genestealers killed the other one. Genestealers charged and killed a loota unit by turn 4, melyrant and raveners went after the other loota unit. Highlight of the game: My melyrant is 2" from a building, raveners are 1" from the same building. Flyrant hasn't used the jump move yet. I try to charge the loota boys who are on the second floor with both of my units. Both fail. Flyrant with adrenal rolls snake eyes with the reroll. Yummy. I kill them a turn later anyways. Warriors and second melyrant dispose off the big boy masses. By turn 5 Ork has one empty trukk left on the table. I have lost my Carnifexen, my venomthropes, deathleaper, the hormagaunts and 3 warriors. Big win for the tyranids.
I was surprised by how strong is the hth of our units once we start paying good points for them. Warriors were deadly, even though they were killing only sluggas. Melyrants are VERY VERY strong. Tried to do the deathleaper-mawloc combo but I died one turn too early. Raveners were ok I guess, didn't look like they were doing tremendous things. I do not have any wings to make shrikes yet, hence the ravener use.
Things I learned: 1. Horror is useless vs orks. They do not get pinned, they roll on a wierd table. 2. Slugga boys have too many attacks to be treated the same way we treat the hormas. Most of the time it is better NOT to charge them with hormas. If hormagaunts charge, they get to strike at ini 1 due to terrain and they die painfully. If the hormas get charged, they still die horribly, but at least they get to strike first and kill some boys. 3. Flyrant on the ground + jink + venom = very very strong protection for the tyrant. Can't wait to get my hands on some malanthropes.

Swarmy was boss in 5th ed, an apex predator in warham 40k food chain fitting for a pimp out hive tyrant with thousands of years of accumulated combat experience. He got nerf hard for reasons i speculated on and to add insults to the injury, they included a blurb of how he got owned by calgar in our own codex.
Also grats on the win for the poster above xD.

Got 2 more test games in with my Michigan GT list. In case I haven't posted it here;
Hive Tyrant (Wings, OA, AG, LW/BS) Hive Tyrant (Wings, OA, AG, LW/BS)
3x Hive Guard 2x Malanthrope (1 Brood)
30 Gants Tervigon (ESG, CC) 13 Hormagaunts 3x Rippers (DS)
3xShrikes (AG, TS, FH, LW/BS)
2xBiovores Carnifex (CC, AG) Carnifex (CC, AG)
1848 points
Both games were against a local player who took 4th at last weeks 1850 tourney. He brought 2 lists; 1 with a stompa, and 1 with his tourney list. We played a game against each
First game was against the Stompa list, Eternal War, DoW deployment. 5 Objectives, 2 had to be in our deployment zones. Deployment Objs were 5 points, the rest were 3. I'm not going to bother doing a big write up for this, because I just creamed him. Carnifexen demolished the Stompa on turn 2, and the it was just clean up duty from there. Final score was 21 to 1
Second game was amazing and tons of fun. A rough outline of his list
Warboss, Mech, Big Mech, Painboy in a squad of 30 boys with KFF
12xboys in a truck, nob, power klaw 12xboys in a truck, nob, power klaw 12xboys in a Battle Wagon, nob, power klaw. Battlewagon had a big gun on it (S7 AP3 Large blast) and some other dakka on it
3xMeganobs in a truck 3xMeganobs in a truck
3x Deffcoptas Bubblechucka 8 or 9 nob bikers, painboy, boss nob. All had power klaws except the painboy. Had twinlinked big shootas or something of that nature
Vanguard deployment. 1 objective in each deployment zone worth 3 points each, and a KP for each troops choice killed. He stole the initiative on this game (as well as the last game) He got to infiltrate a bunch of his stuff per the strategic warlord trait, and had a pretty even deployment across his zone. His Nob bikers infiltrated on a severe side of my right flank. I deployed in a woods area terrain, pretty much castled up as to stay in my shroud bubble and get everything a 3+ cover save, with the exception of my gant blob that was on the right.
Turn 1 He moves up the field a bit. Defcoptas go on top of a 4 story impassable terrain building, and he throws 3 large blasts into my condensed army, but doesn't do much thanks to the cover saves. Nob bikers move up a bit, unload into a jinking hive tyrant and do a wound (he got 22 hits out of his 27 shots!)
I move my warlord out of the woods, and will end up using my wings in the assault to get on top of the impassable building and wipe out the coptas (first blood). My blob moved to the right to screen my army from the Bikers, which I'm really afraid of. I shuffle around a bit in the woods to position myself for a turn 2 charge from my opponent. Biovores hit 14 guys in his 30 man blob, but only 4 die thanks to KFF and FNP. Hive guard kill a truck with 3 meganobs in it.
Turn 2 Bikers move up a bit and kill 20 of my blob squad with shooting, even though they were strung towards the Malanthropes for shrouding. His 3 large templates again fail to do much thanks to massive cover saves. A truck full of boys moves in on my left flank, disembark to cover the meganobs that now have to footslog. They assault and kill my Hive Guard. They end up shooting my hormagaunts to death. Meganobs shoot and do nothing. 30 man blob continues to surge forward. His other truck of meganobs jump out about 10 inches from my forest and shoot at the Malanthropes, doing 2 wounds.
Rippers come in and mishap into ongoing. My Warlord comes down from the building in preporation to kill the meganobs in assault (which he does). Shrikes and Malanthropes move to assault the boys next to them, and chop them to bits (preferred enemy time!). My 2nd Melyrant moves over and mulches the other Meganobs. I move my Tervigon and Carnifexen over to my right side of my shrouded forest to counter charge the bikers after moving my putting my remaining termagaunts between them, hoping that between 2D3 HoW and S10 doubling them out will keep me from getting punched to death. All my assault units consolidate back into the shrouded woods. I mention to my opponent how strange it is for me to be castled up and surrounded by an opponent, and not the other way around. Biovores try to snipe the painboy, but he makes look out sirs and only loses a model or two.
Turn 3 Large blasts continue to do little damage. His 2nd truck of boys unloads in ruins across from my forest and wound the already wounded carnifex 2 more times with shootas. Meganobs shoot and wound the Tervigon 3 times, then fail to assault it moving through the gaunt squad. He was trying to get the troop KP for the Tervigon and have it blow up and kill all the gants for a 2nd KP. Fire from big shootas on the trucks kills a biovore.
I position for an all-out assault on the bikers. Both Melyrants move over, as well the Carnifexen. 1 Carnifex derps his MtC roll. I end up with both Melyrants and 1 carnifex in the combat (2nd one failed his fleet charge of 8 inches). I killed him out of striking distance, he breaks, I SA him down. Rippers mishap into ongoing reserves (continuously trying to DS onto his Objective, where the Bubblechucka is).
Turn 4 He kills the Tervigon with the large blasts, which then explodes and takes out my gaunts. Shoota boys in the ruins kill the wounded carnifex. Large blob with his warlord in it ends up killing a shrike with shooting and continue to move forward. Their large footprint is hampering them from really getting to me, having to go around the large impassable building. Biovore fire kept their lines back as well. He moves two trucks (one from a meganob unit, 1 from a boy unit so OS) onto my objective in my deployment.
Rippers finally come in about 6 inches from the bubblechucka that is on his objective. Shrikes and the Melyrants assault his big blob squad (about 22 remaining) and wipe it out. Carnifex crushes the last squad of boys on foot after taking a wound to overwatch, malanthropes move into the ruins across from the woods.
Turn 5 Large blasts wound a Carnifex and both malanthropes. Trucks shoot ineffectively. I assault the 2 trucks with my Melyrants, only killing one (the non troop one). Other melyrant wiffs hard and does 1 HP, stunning it. Shrikes move up the left side of the field around the impassable building, failing to get within Synapse for the Rippers who had passed their IB on a roll of a 2 and 3. Rippers make a 6 inch charge onto the bubblechucka crew, Shrikes make a 10 inch charge. We don't even roll and he picks up the models. I consolidate on the objective. Carnifex derps MtC and sits in the ruins.
We roll and get a turn 6 His Battlewagon unloads his troops out the rear and attempts to shoot me off his objective. He throws 2 large blasts from the truck, it's heavy shootas, and everything the shoota boys had into them. 1 shrike survived with 1 wound left.
Warlord kills the truck he couldn't last turn. Melyrant and Malanthropes hit the squad of boys that came out of the truck, killing all by the painboy and the nob. He rolls heroic 1s.
We roll for turn 7, which doesn't happen.
Orcs; 5 Tyranids; 12
This was a great game. This is all from memory of yesterday, so a few things may be forgotten / misremembered. At the end of the game I had my Warlord alive with 3 wounds, my 2nd melyrant with 2 wounds, 1 shrike with 1 wound left, a single biovore, and the malanthropes with 2 wounds on left on one and 3 on the other. Somewhere in there the other Carnifex died but I don't remember to what. I also don't remember how he got his points to 5, but I'm sure of the score.
What I really learned about this game;
In the Michigan GT terrain is the same for every table. All pieces are ~12'^2
2xmultilevel ruins 2xforests 2xhills (open terrain) 1ximpassable building with battlements (av13, 4hp) 1xwater feature (5+cover, dangerous)
I need to place a ruins in the center of the map. Both if I get the option to place the two of them. I can castle up there with shrikes/melyrants/malanthropes and strike out and kill what I can reach, then hop back into it. If that's not an option, it will at least but a launching point for my assaults. If I can't place both pieces in the center, I'll place the other one close to his deployment zone to try and sucker him into it, then jump from one to the other, using it as my new base of operations. If my opponent places one of the ruins I'll have to settle for a woods tile and use it for 3+ cover instead of 2+

Fexes (MC's) aren't slowed by charging through difficult terrain. They do get the -2 I penalty, but charge distance is unaffected.

That never happened. He derped on a MTC roll. When he failed his charge it was just a bad die roll.

Played my first game with my CC Flyrant and Dimachaeron together tonight. 1850p with 6 objectives all in the middle. Faced a tournament list which had 2 Titans and I think 5 or 6 drop pods of normal marines and two Fliers. Unfortunately I messed up. Only gave my Flyrant LW/BS+Talons which meant he was useless against the Titan's AV13 after assaulting. I am going to have to free up 5p from somewhere for next time. I deployed first but having seen drop pod batreps on youtube knew many would land turn 1 and start hurting me so decided to give first turn to my opponent while I had stuff clumped up for shrouded. All drop pods landed next to objectives, scoring him a few cards. Venomthrope got blown to hell, first blood. Both HT's wounded. Right sided Fex wounded and lost some guants. In reply my force advances, Birtha has 13 babies. Warlord Flyrant swoops to fire into a Titan's side AV12. A squad of marines and their droppod were behind the pink highlighted rock in the middle. Dima assaults and managed a 10" (after re-roll) charge, involving a leap to get over the right hand side of the terrain. Leaping ftw! HoW and 9 attacks wiped them out. CC Flyrant assaults that marine squad's drop pod (after grubbing it) and wrecks it. This let me claim that objective. Right side Fex assaults the Titan on the right, 3 HoW hits, rolled three 1s. FS! Titan attacks first and ID's it and consolidates forwards. Both Flyrants regenerate. Turn 2, more drop pods falling out of the sky, both fliers rush in and a Titans move forward. Both Flyrant's wounded, all birthed Guants wiped out and a Zoan dies to shooting, paving the way for the right sided Titan to assault and ID Birtha The other Titan had to choose between assaulting Dima or CC Flyrant. Opts to assault Dima as he didn't want it to assault him after, considering it the greater threat. They wound each other. In reply, Crone swoops in from reserves and Vector Strikes the Titan that's killing my MCs. Also damages a flyer with a Tentaclid. Warlord Flyrant also VS's the same Flier, shoots and destroys it. Remaining Dakkafex positions itself to fire into the side of the marauding right side Titan and then assaults, doing nice damage. Thanks to Catalyst it survives combat and stomps. CC Flyrant gives Dima FNP again and flies off to assault another squad of marines/Warlord on another objective. Issued a challenge and the warlord failed his 4++ on an ID hit. Excess wounds killed another 4 marines leaving 1 left. Perfect. Had assassinate a character and issue challenge objective cards so that was freaking awesome. Both regeneration rolls failed. Turn 3, remaining flier zooms over to my left and wipes out my Biovores, who did nothing for the first time. Titan and Dima trade blows, Dima losing the fight but in Synapse. Right side squad of marines sitting on an objective and their drop pod having nothing in LOS but spore mines so destroy them. Other titan rolls poorly in combat against my Dakkafex, who destroys it and thanks to FNP survives the absolutely HUGE explosion. Muhahaha! CC Flyrant kills sole marine and moves to my right. My turn, the Crone chases the remaining flier and destroys it. Warlord Flyrant destroys a pod on an objective. CC Flyrant glides over to the Spore Mine killing marines and wipes them all out, consolidating back towards middle. Dima is killed by the Titan Turn 4, remaining Titan fails to kill the Dakkafex that killed his brother. The sole remaining squad of marines is still fighting my Tervigon Tax brood. In reply, Crone flies off the table. Remaining Zoanthrope Blasts a pod off another objective, allowing me to score. Warlord Grubs the remaining Titan. Dakkafex shoots and assaults Titan. Both hurt. Turn 5, Guants and Marines are still slapping each other, yawn. CC with Titan and has both rolling poorly. Fex manages to survive thanks to FNP. My go, Zoanthrope and Warlord Flyrant claim objectives. Titan rolls poorly, Fex still alive. Turn 6, More Guants killed by marines. Titan kills Fex. In reply, Crone flies back on, shoots Titan. Both Flyrants Grubs it and CC Flyrant assaults. Turn ends with Titan and Flyrant both with 1 wound remaining. Fail to Regenerate. Game ends, Tyranids 9-6 Marines. So, I was absolutely delighted with the win. Am buzzing. Poor Dima, slaughtered a squad so easily he didn't get to do his Maw attacks to earn 4+ FNP tokens, before being assaulted by a damned Titan which he struggled to damage with it's AV13. I wasn't good at rolling 6s with him. Luckily, Catalyst is almost as good and he kept the Titan occupied for a while. CC Flyrant did better, destroying a scoring drop pod and two squads of marines, one of which had a Warlord kill which earned me lots of points. AG on the Dakkafex proved priceless against those Titans. If I had invested an extra 5p in my damned CC Flyrant that last Titan would have died too.

They are related, but Titans are even bigger. It's like the difference between a Fex and a Hierodule.
