So, today I fielded the Macaroon against blood angels, was maelstrom mission 1 and all that.
I got to go first and deployed aggressively, my opponent did the same.
I'm not going too in depth since it isn't fresh in my mind anymore but I know what the Dimadude did:
Turn 1 - moved forward near cover to get closer to assault marines.
Opponent moved his assault marines AWAY from Dimdim.
Turn 2 - moved closer, failed charge, took a wound.
Opponent moved his marines further away, but other assaults kept his stuff relatively close
Turn 3 - Dillon assaulted the... Sanguinary guard? The gold armor winged jetpack guys. Killed 3/5 and took two wounds in return. failed his eating autohit
finished the squad and consolidated opponent's turn.
Turn 4 - assaulted assault marines, killed them all and consolidated
turn 5 - was shot and dealt nothing due to casting feel no pain from Zoanthropes.
Turn 6 - moved closer to the predator that shot at it.
took another wound to assault cannon fire.
Turn 7 - reached and destroyed the predator that shot at it.
All in all, the Dimachaeron created about a 30" bubble of denial just by existing. It has a downside in its massive number of attacks in that it has a really good chance of outright killing everyone and not getting a plasm token.
It's as survivable as a trygon for 10 pts more and can be a major distraction.
Part of the reason I tabled my opponent was for the thing being there.
I really like it. I don't know how often I'd us the thing- need to test on more armies than an assaulty one.
However, it is as hard to kill as a tervigon and hits harder than a tyrant. Obvious downside is reaching combat (I never ran the thing, either). But once it does it can create a chain reaction of pain. It will most likely win combat and be shot at, however.
Gonna keep trying it out, see how it goes.
But, I like it. It is a monster that keeps my Heavy support free. I'm not much for crones or harpies.
Anyone else try it out?
