Rather than spaff my pictures all over the General board I figured it was about time I made a thread in the proper place. Here!
And so, my spanking new Dimachaeron from IA4 #2 is complete.
(Snaffled from IA4: The Anphelion Project, I hope GW don't mind but it is a very nice sketch)
Progress report:
Here's be big fella, all washed and tidied up.
I magnetised the abdomen and thorax with a 6mm x 4mm disc magnet in each. The head I left off so I could paint the noggin carapace properly without having to get a brush under the long carapace cowl. The arms looked like vaguely annoying ball & socket joints so I left those until I had more time to position them right. Here's a height comparison with a Tyrant & Knight Paladin.
And here is a group comparison with a Trygon, Riptide & Wraithknight with the Paladin at the back.
The arms took a while to get seated right and stuck in place, the head is resting in position and the sickle claws were stuck on. Then the guy was undercoated.
Most of the base coat done, carapace plates need their third colour. Blacks are left until after washing the top half.
Put back together with the head fully painted and stuck on. Repositioned the left sickle claw into a more threatening pose.
Separated the two halves to make handling & painting easier. Carapace plates on the lower half finished, awaiting shading.
Lower half shaded via a wash. Notice the slight darkening of the colour and the prominence of textures.
Top view. This is absolutely one of my fav models ever.
And done. Top half washed, pointy bits blacked, graspy bits greened, hard areas 'ardcoated. Eyes and teef done but the teef will probably get a wash as they're a bit too bright. Spine-maw bloodied up as appropriate.
Will post my other units soon! I hope you guys like the work.
