starter set incoming: orks vs. space puppies

in our latest episode of 'wtf, gw, my magic 8-ball is broken' we have orks vs. space wolves in the starter set, previewed in next weeks' WD so presumably out week after next.

Interesting, given that an earlier WD said they were just going to repackage DV with the 7th Ed Rulebook.

I wonder if this is just people reading too much into the incredibly broad scope of the material GW's releasing to support the Sanctus Reach Campaign book.

not sure about the set, those don't look like new models to me. I would love for this rumor to be true though. Also a pic on the first page of that thread is of the white dwarf section saying that there will be a new DV set with the updated rules coming out soon, Doesn't sound like a new starter to me.

Someone on another board was theorizing that this is just a Campaign Box, not the 7th Ed Starter.

There's definitely a SW/Ork Boxed Set coming out, but whether or not it's actually the 7th Ed Starter is still unconfirmed.

does what they call it really matter? my dark vengeance box doesn't have 'starter set' anywhere on it, either.

A starter set tends to include the rulebook, and lasts for as long as the edition lasts. If it is 'just' a boxed set for a campaign, it is less likely to include rules/templates/etc and more likely to only be around for a limited time. (While they push the campaign.)

For those currently active, just looking for some good deals, it doesn't really matter.

Yeah, the big difference for me is whether or not it has a rulebook in it. I don't want to shell out for the hardcover, and the .epub is kind of a pain, since I don't have a tablet or anything.

the big thing I am waiting for is the mini rulebook, I hope the set includes an army I play which is why I hope this set is a starter but I doubt it.

the mini-rulebook is the clencher for me as well. but yeah, no 'starter' anything on my DV box. nothing means nothing i guess? we'll see in a week.

If you squint at the text at the bottom of the SW pic, it says that it does contain a mini-rulebook.

Long story short, unless this is total BS, I'm all over this set. However, the indication that it's limited edition may well mean that in September or so, DV will be repackaged with a 7th Ed mini rulebook as well, and will be the ongoing Starter Set, like WD said.

Am I mis-remembering, or is that a pretty small number of models for a starter set? Seems like other versions had more models in them.
