So...I was watching some battle reports form MWG, and decided that I wanted to write a narrative campaign for some of the buds at the FLGS. The thing is...I've never done anything like this before, so I'm here asking you guys from some input.
Here are my goals:
I want a series of irregular mission types, with some interesting deployment zones
I don't want to play the missions from the main book, but I can see myself adapting them to the campaign
Throughout the campaign, I want to revisit this thread, and provide you guys with pics and a battle report, and ask for your feedback for the next mission in regard to its actual viability.
Disclaimer, the majority of my army is still unpainted, thus I apologize ahead of time in that I think it could hurt the narrative...
Here's what I want to participate in the campaign...involving 2 main players...with guest appearances from up to 2-3 others
Races/Armies involved:
Sons of Medusa
Eldar
Imperial Guard
Necrons
and Tyranids.
The campaign wouldn't begin for about 3 weeks, since I have my finals coming up. However, I'll be giving the players their restrictions to force org, and general mission parameters via "intelligence briefings", which I will share with you. They won't know what exactly is going to happen until gameday, but they'll have a rough idea. Much like the campaign held by MWG, I will allow the games to dictate the flow of the story. Characters will be made...and characters will die. There will be a modicum of balance involved
The main armies will be the Imperials vs the Nids
Mission 1 will involve the SoM trying to regain a lost chapter relic from an Eldar crash site.
500 pts of marines, no vehicles, deploying to obtain a relic. The game starts with them with the relic itself, and they have to escape to their Thunderhawks (not playable) Mission objective: escape with the relic to the transports
their enemy 750 pts of nids, mostly small stuff and genestealers (or should I use more?). Nothing above toughness 5 will be allowed. Mission objective: steal the relic, and escape off of a table edge.
Board type: ruins, with an eldar wreck (no survivors)
I'll add some more to the back story tomorrow, but I have to get back to studying. Any help will be appreciated.
