A Monster for You! - Progress ***updated 4/15***

For those who remember my voting thread from before, here's an update. For those who don't:

My apologies for taking so long to deliver updates. I had an unfortunate change in my job situation that's been difficult to recover from.

I elected to go a slightly different route from the one people voted for. Same basic theme, but I wanted it a little more dark/dramatic. I ran into some trouble with the assembly, as shortly after I had gotten this far in the painting process, a small gap in his lower torso began to open up. I'll see if I can't repair it, but it's frustrating to get that much paint down and then have to do it over. :/ Anyway, here's some work on the exoskeleton (as nothing else has been completed yet):

Your skin tones are beautiful.

Are you finished? I just wonder cause I don't see a lot of highlighting on the carapace from this picture angle(it looks like you did it on the scything talon in the top left of the pic- aka the model's top right scything talon but I can't see it at all from this angle on the model's-left scything talons).

The color combination works really well. That skin tone though, it's almost eerie/spectral looking. Very very well done.

That is a wonderful blue. I really like that. Not sure if you plan on doing more highlighting on the carapace and talons but I like the contrast between the dark shell and brighter skin.

I should have clarified: Nothing has been done anywhere except on the skin.

Here I've added some of the flesh tones between the exoskeletal segments. Mostly purple hues to maintain the cool/lunar theme. Let me know your thoughts!

The one thing driving me nuts is that this kit was from one of the first runs printed by GW, when the pieces were very uneven. The pressure released the glue sometime after I began painting (which I talked about in the original post), and a couple of those seams have emerged. If the person buying this miniature would like those repaired, such terms can be negotiated.

Great work! The bluish purple skin looks amazing! I can only imagine how an entire army would look on a table with this color scheme!!

Thanks, gk! Yeah, it's still got the lunar/moon feel, but shades of classic Genestealers and Hormagaunts.

I used an airbrush for the very ffirst coat (Kantor Blue). Everything else has been by hand.

Love love love that colour scheme! I'm just about to start my bluey nid army (all be it a different style). I think the blue and black work really nice together. Are you going to keep the carapace?
