Orc vehicles: Where do you measure vehicle weapons from?

I'm putting together a couple custom looted wagons and a custom battlewagon. Given that you have tremendous flexibility in modeling not only the shape of the vehicle but also the size and location of vehicle mounted weapons, how do you measure range from the gun(s) to the target? For example, my battlewagon is designed to be an armored fast assault vehicle so it will be lightly armed with just four big shootaz. I'm using the Kromlech small turrets to represent the guns. Do I measure from the barrel of each gun, dependent upon where I place it and LOS to the target? Or do I measure all four shots from a point on the battlewagon hull closest to the target unit, regardless of where the turrets are modeled?

Vehicles determine range and LoS from the end of each gun barrel. Pg.71-72.

Like WestRider said, you measure from each gun itself. But also keep in mind when you make a custom/looted vehicle you have the option to take the weapon any way you want. So for example, if you're using a Vindicator for a looted wagon with a Boomgun it would be considered hull mounted, but if instead you use a Leman russ it's turret mounted. So try and avoid placing turrets on the side of the vehicle (Like the GW battlewagon) because if you try to broadside a target some of your guns cannot see. Best bet, make everything on a turret mount for 360 degree arc of fire.

Also, if it is open-topped and you have a unit inside firing out, that's when you measure from any point on the hull. So the unit inside can all shoot out the drivers view point! But then it just gets crowded in there and the driver gets a bit pissed.

So best design for positioning multiple guns on a battle wagon is to replicate modern warships. Everything in turrets running lengthwise along the beam for maximum field of fire.

Yep, that's the beauty of open topped vehicles and firing out of them!

that is a nasty tactic because all you have to do is place 1 template to hit the maximum number of models and each burna can be resolved in that same spot. This does have some drawbacks though (as someone who used to use the same thing though I prefer lootas now), the rear armor on battlewagons is useless and using burnas means you have to get close up. This really exposes the vehicle on the rear and side armor. Also it is best used against large clumps of troops meaning that you can easily encircle the battlewagon (which cant move within 1" of an enemy model) and trap it there. also if you wreck the vehicle while encircling it 1" away he cant place the burnas when they get out and the unit is destroyed. I used to play against a tyranid player who would do this with 2 swarms of 30 termies and a carnifex, it was brutal.

make sure you have a mek or IC/whatever in there with a shoota or something, so all those yummy template wounds don't get wasted.
