I'm back with a couple of quick battle reports and some pictures. I've put the Alpha Strike list on hold for a minute because I'm working on creating a 9 Tervigon list... yes you read that right, I'm working on creating a 9 Tervigon list. In these two games I brought first 3 Tervigons and then I borrowed 2 more from a friend for a 5 Tervigon list.
Game #1 against my Kryptonite... the Razor Spam list from the Grey Knights.
Coteaz w/ 3 Plasma Cannon Henchman, 6 Warrior Acolytes
Inquisitor w/Terminator Armor, Demon Hammer, Psycannon
5 Man Strike Squad w/ Razorback TL Psycannon, Dozer Blade

10 Termagants
10 Termagants
10 Termagants
Trygon w/TS
(2) 9 Man Ymgarls
Dakkafex w/Spore
Game was Purge the Alien/Vanguard Deployment - Grey Knights won the roll to deploy and I failed to seize. No night fighting.
Everything deploys in a line with PsyfleDread on each flank and spread out to cover as much terrain as possible to deny the Ymgarls.
The Board: Lots of terrain, but in the end it didn't matter
On the bright side, this army is fully painted and my opponent is a really good player. He just got back from the big Myrtle Beach tournament.
"Help, I've fallen and I can't get up"
This guy single handedly wiped out Two of my 3 Tervigons with his handy dandy Str 10 Force Sword!!!
This unit doesn't look like much, but with Coteaz leading them those Plasma Cannons are Twin Linked and ignore cover saves. That means 3 wounds per turn on a Tervigon... yes it does.
So the game started and ended a shoot fest from the Grey Knights. Coteaz casts his powers for Twin Link and Ignore Cover and they start hammering away at the Tyranid lines. I made a mistake and tried to outflank a Tervigon behind his lines, but rolled on the wrong side when it came in turn two.
I took 5 wounds on one Tervigon on turn one and the other one burned out making about a dozen Termagants. Dreadknight teleports over to my side of the board but is just out of Charge range from my Tervigon. On my turn, everything in my army moved up with the Ymgarls, Devilfex, Hive Tyrant and Tervigon waiting in reserve. No powers as I went second, which I promptly cast Endurance on both of my Tervigons.
Grey Knights Turn 2:
Storm Raven stays in reserve. His Dreadknight assaults and kills the Tervigon on my right wiping out some gants nearby. Shooting from the middle takes out the Tervigon on my left killing some more gants. The Trygon takes 4 wounds from shooting. He moves up into ruins trying to herd the Ymgarls towards Coteaz.
Tyranids Turn 2:
All reserves come in with Flyrant moving on and Glancing/Immobilizing a PsyfleDread, Devilfex blows up a Razor and both units of Ymgarls explode a Razorback each. Trygon fails his charge and Outflanking Tervigon comes in on the same side as the Dreadknight (wrong side). Termagants in my backfield fail IB tests and hide in terrain. See pictures above.
Grey Knights Turn 3:
Stormraven comes on and shoots/kills the Hive Tyrant dead. Plasma Cannons kill the Pod. Psycannons kill the Devilfex. Strike Squad shooting wipes out the Ymgarls and PsyfleDreads kill the Trygon. Last but not least, the DreadKnight flys over and swats the Tervigon into oblivion. At this point I had 2 units of Lurking Termagants left on my side of the board and we call it.
Decisive Victory for Grey Knights - First Blood, Slay The Warlord and Line Breaker... with the Tyranids being swept from the Playing field.
Game #2: Tyranids vs. Vanilla Marines
4 Objectives/Vanguard Deployment, Marines take first Turn and no night fighting.
2000 Points Vanilla Marines:
Librarian with 2 Codex powers
8 Sternguard w/Rhino
CC Dread w/Heavy Flamer & Seismic Hammer in Lucius Patter Drop Pod (allowed first turn assault)
Rifle Dread (Dual Assault Cannons)
Tellion & 7 Scouts w/Quad Cannon & Aegis line
Razorback w/MM & 5 Marines
Razorback w/MM & 5 Marines
5 Devastators w/Heavy Bolters
Landspeeder with MM
Rhino w/Heavy Bolter & 5 Marines
(2) Vindicators
Tyranids 2K:
Dual Dakka Flyrant w/HC
(5) Tervigons w/AG/TS/Catalyst
(4) 10 man Termagants
(2) 8 man Ymgarls
3 Hive guard
Marine deployment:
Tyranid Deployment: Flyrant & Ymgarls in reserve
Space Marines Turn 1:
Some shooting from the Heavy Bolters & Rifle Dreads take 4 wounds off the left most Tervigon. Drop Pod comes down in the middle near the ruins and the Dread flames the Hive Guard & some Gants, but fails the charge through terrain. Cover saves are made against other shooting.
Tyranids Turn 1:
Spawn termagants on 4 of 5 Tervigons and the one in the middle right burns out. The HQ Tervigon is the one on the right and is the only one not to spawn. Everyone casts Catalyst on themselves and tries to move out. The Hive Guard roll snake eyes to MTC so the Tervigon behind them is trapped in a sea of Termagants. Hive Guard take 2 hull points off the Drop Pod and the Painted Tervigon moves up to assault it scoring no hits and taking a wound in return.
Space Marines Turn 2:
Shooting from the left (Heavy Bolters and Rifle Dread again) takes down the Tervigon on my left scoring
FIRST BLOOD for the marines. Other shooting causes a couple of wounds to the Tervigon that burned out as it's moving forward straight towards the Aegis line. Vindicator blasts thin out the herd of Termagants in the middle, but they just keep coming. One wound on Tervigon from Dread and the Tervigon pens and Immobilizes the Dread.
Tyranid turn 2:
Flyrant & Ymgarls come on. Flyrant is intercepted by the Quad gun and takes two wounds, but stays in the air. Flyrant shoots and wrecks the Landspeeder. Ymgarls fail their charge on the right due to a poor MTC roll. Ymgarls on the left assault and wreck a Razorback w/MM. Tervigons all cast FNP on themselves except the unpainted Terv in middle that burned out. The HQ Tervigon on the right burns out spawning 14 Termagants. Everyone moves up except the Tervigon stuck behind the Hive Guard. The Hive Guard explode the Drop Pod and the Tervigon explodes the Assault Dread. This Tervigon was down to 2 wounds, so I consolidated back into the ruins near the objective on my side of the board.
Space Marines Turn 3:
Shooting kills the Ymgarls on the left, but the ones on the right avoid everything from Vindicator shots to Heavy Bolters. Focused shooting kills the Tervigon in the middle that didn't have FNP and the feedback destroys about 15 Termagants. However there just seems to be an endless supply of the little buggers.
Tyranid turn 3:
Flyrant shoots and wrecks a Rhino w/HB killing a marine in the explosion. Everything not on an objective moves forward and the Hive Guard wreck the command Rhino w/ Librarian and Stern Guard in it. (the middle one see pictures between the Vindicators). Ymgarls on the right assault and kill 3 Scouts losing one in return. Marines pile out of the wreckage and shoot/kill some encroaching Termagants. More Termagants die to Sternguard fire but there just seems no end to the little bugs! The HQ Tervigon moves up to contest the Objective on his left where the Aegis is.
Space Marines Turn 4:
More shooting but the combined cover saves and FNP makes the Tervigons seem almost indestructable. The Marines move in and man the Quad Gun shooting the Hive Tyrant out of the sky and
SLAYING THE WARLORD of the Tyranid army. All of the scouts fall except the Mighty Tellion who just will not die.
Tyranids Turn 4:
Ymgarls finish off Tellion and consolidate towards the other Marines. Tervigon settles into the Terrain to contest the objective. He summons Termagants to try and capture this one. The Hive Guard move up and immobilize one of the Vindicators.
Space Marine Turn 5:
All shooting tries to disengage the Tervigon and Termagants from the Objective but FNP and cover proves too strong. Ymgarls are shot down before they can reach the Marines on the right.
Tyranids Turn 5:
Termagants move up but fail to assault the Marines contesting the objective.
Tyranid victory 10/5
