But we would just adapt with enough time the great Devourer can destroy all. It even says in the nid codex"Unless the races of the galaxy unite it will mean nothing less then extinction." This means nothing can stop them unless all the races combine forces. You realise that almost all codices say the same thing? Orks: If they were to every fully unite, the galaxy will go under a green tide. Necrons: Hideously advanced technology and simply don't die. If it wasn't for the Deceiver's scheme in the first place, the galaxy would already be dead. The Imperium: Currently hold most of the galaxy. If the bureaucracy weren't in the way, they could probably do it. Chaos: Everyone is corruptible. Eldar (ok... that's a joke) Tau should never be allowed control of Warp tech... or they will expand. Anyhew... It would be between Tyranids and Necrons. Tyranids have the advantage of insanely good Blitzkrieg, and that's why they are carving giant chunks out of the galaxy. They also have the benefit of Warp disruption, leaving Chaos, Eldar and all other heavily psychically dependent races in the lurch. Tyranids currently fall down because they generally destroy the planets they infest. There are exceptions, of course, but they generally eat and move on. This means that there realistically is only a front of Tyranids and not much else backing them up. Destroy the front line, and that hive fleet is gone. Necrons, whilst currently not really a superpower like Tyranids or the Imperium, have vast hidden capabilities. They generally don't die. Exterminatus on a planet generally only kills anything on the surface... Anything underneath the surface, like where many Necron tombs can be found, are perfectly safe from Exterminatus unless the planet itself is destroyed. That doesn't often happen. And, even then, Necrons don't need an atmosphere.
From RoboMummy on the first page: "but it says that the necrons fed on emotions so for such a long time that the fluff says the stars will no longer be able to sustain them."Incorrect. The C'Tan feed off emotions, it is true... But that's because they like the taste. They can sustain themselves with the stars when they have to (see The Outsider). The only reason they did not annihilate all life when they had the chance is because the Deceiver, who really likes the taste of emotions, kept the other C'Tan from killing off life by playing them off against each other. And that's just the C'Tan. Necrons themselves HATE life. Even if the C'Tan were gone, Necrons still exist and go about their daily sub-lives without them. And if Necrons find any life, they either attempt to subjugate it or annihilate it. Final vote goes to Necron: Without the C'Tan in the way, the Necrons themselves will eventually happily go about their sub-lives by annihilating every living being. EDITJust so you know, Mr. C'Tan, our Gants can kill you. Not even a lot of them. Like, you know, 10 or 15 of 'em. Just sayin', bro. We bring a few hundred trillion of those with us when we eat something small, like a planet. Made me smile But... just remember: that's an averagely designed gameplay mechanic and has zero bearing on what would happen in the real 40K universe. Also, remember that the C'Tan in gameplay terms are hideously limited... and also remember that the C'Tan are only living in Living Metal Bodies and the destruction of the body has nearly zero chance of destroying the C'Tan...

Besides, everyone assumes when they say C'tan that they mean the Nightbringer and occasionally the other bloke, not realising the the 'other bloke' is actually an absolute nightmare to deal with. I've seen the Deceiver make a mockery of a lot of armies.

What about the fact that the whole 'kill all sentient beings, then there is no warp' is limited by the fluff saying that there is no time in the warp so if the warp was going to be closed off/destroyed, it would be already. Plus conflict of that scale would put any Khorne unit on steroids. Blood for the blood god!

Tyranids because we dont know how many there are. They could have already taken over the whole universe

I'd say Tyranids because we're the only one's not restricted by either a set number, or the existence of other species in the that galaxy. Really, for all we know, there are dozens of Nid infested galaxies.

Plus conflict of that scale would put any Khorne unit on steroids. Blood for the blood god! It's not that there is "no time" in the warp... it's just that time behaves very differently in there. For example, something in the warp may see only two hours have passed whilst in the warp, when reality may have had a few days, or few years or or a few millennia pass. Time is an odd concept in the warp and can not be relied upon as a strict measurement. I also have to correct something in my previous post: I said that Eldar winning over was a joke. I take that back and add the following: Eldar had their chance and, in wasting it by not eradicating the Necrons and humans and by generally screwing around, are now facing extinction.

At most sites, this would be a codex question. I'm new here at the Hive, but already I knew it would be a fluff question. I'm really starting to like it here.
Well, the question specified who would be left ALIVE, and since the Deamons would definately kick butt, but then melt back into the warp, they wouldn't technically be left alive. Heh- the WAAC rules lawyer comes out.
The Necrons are kind of a Dark Horse here, no one's exactly sure what kinda numbers they have, I believe. Those Tomb worlds keep waking up...
Ultimately, I think they're all just Biomass for the Hive Fleets. The 'Nids are just probing. The Hive Fleets on record are just Tendrils of the Hive Mind. It's coming, and it's hungry.
Damn, I love me some 'Nids.

Still, 'Nids can't absorb 'Crons, though I saw a post where someone theorized what would happen if they did, limitless unkillable buggers who range from small to planet swallowing massive. But the Necrons would win, I stand firm by that.

Im going to say orks because if you kill them... they just grow back... and the longer they fight... the stronger they get... you thought our biotitans were tough... imagine an ork who fights against every race in one epic clash.

There is a limit to how strong an Ork can get. Anyhew... for more info on Warp Times, I just found this whilst looking for Battefleet Gothic stuff: LinkyThis is some info about the predecessor to BFGothic, Space Fleet. If you do a search for the words "TIME DISPLACEMENT" on the page, you come up with a list of estimated times to travel through the warp and how long has passed in the real world. As you can see, Warp times vary significantly... and I also think that this has been over-ruled by current fluff Back to victory... Still Necrons. Tyranids have yet to create their own set of dimensions

Necrons, they can do whatever the Hell they want, it's just a matter of when. They landed some cruisers on Mars, essentially for the lulz. The Void Dragon is taking a nap on Mars. There are untold billions of Necrons in Tomb Worlds everywhere. I could go on, but really, if Games Workshop were to actually further the universe timeline onwards (lolololololololololololol) then it would be a very terminator-esque future. I spent a while thinking of a Necron pun, but I came up short. Wanted my post to end with a bang, looks like it'll just phase out. :/

^heheh I see what you did there...
I really think it would be necrons or tyranids. Most are basically without number already, both have little to no warp connection, and the necrons and nids both have essentially gods on earth (hive mind and the Ctan)
I'm no fluff master, but aren't the orks, eldar and humans just a by-product of another race? Or am I thinking of something else? (maybe SC2 is getting me confused; stupid xel'naga)

I've checked the warp time thing and yeah you were right it just passes differently.
So in that case it is either 'Crons or Tyranids. It really depends on Info we don't have (The numbers of each) and the fact that Nids actively avoid 'Crons unless they have to fight makes me believe that the Nids would eat nearly everything before the Necrons fully awoke and the Nids would leave, leaving the 'Crons to kill everything else and go back to sleep

I personally feel the 'Crons will meet their end at the hands of the Orks (weren't they the Old Ones ultimate weapon?). When a dedicated Waaagh! hits a Tomb World it's end game, C'tan or not.
The Tyranids, as much as I hate to say it, seem very unlikely to win. They have all the physical resources they could ever need but that means nothing when battling the likes of Chaos.
Orks, themselves, lack the organisation to overthrow the other races and would probably resort to in-fighting, dooming themselves.
And so I still meet my previous conclusion. Chaos all the way!
