There's a post on page 2 of this thread with pictures of one of them unpainted.

The figures of the guardsmen are from the catachan heavy weapons team, but with some cadian heads I had lying around. The mutated arms are genestealer rending claw arms. The guns are IG heavy weapon team missile launchers.

The chassis is made out of a frame of sprue material sandwiched between squares of plasticard.

The tracks are the most complicated part, but very easy. First I cut the rhombus shape out of plasticard, and added the wheels - one in each corner of the rhombus. They are lego wheels.

I then glued the tracks onto the wheels (chimera tracks).

Details added are spare parts from a revell APC model, random bits of plastic, some odd bits of armour plating etc. I also glued on coils of solder wire to look like cables etc. This was a pretty random process, basically just covering the surfaces with whatever I had to hand to give texture to the smooth surfaces and make them look more complex.

So, my new creation is an Ogryn Hybrid, which I will field as a Tyranid Prime. I will be making more, and they will be warriors.

The model is basically an ogre bull-tyranid warrior kitbash, with some putty sculpting.

Front view:

The upper arms are warrior legs/thighs with an ogre bull hand (right) and a weapon from the IG sentinel sprue (left).

Lower arms are warrior rending claws.

Feeder tendrils are made of putty.

Belly plate is a trimmed down warrior head.

The tyre on the base is lego.



Rear views:

The armour on the back is a warrior rear torso, trimmed down.

I had to sculpt in a fair bit of flesh here, and was very happy with the result.

Dude those conversions and paint job is amaing.

Don't really see how tank=tervigon (where are the termies born?) or how heavy weapon squad on tracks=hive gaurd. But other than that Amazin job!

It's an APC, so fluff-wise it's a transport that also carries the Magus. I needed decent psychic abilities for the Magus, but a tyrant doesn't really fit - unless I do something like a pertinent engine, but I prefer the tervigon adaptation. The guys (termagants) are inside it, and just disembark (are born) - you'll notice the hybrids at the back end (about to jump out), and you can see more bursting through a hole in the side of the vehicle.

T6W6 can take a lot of punishment - so an armoured vehicle seemed appropriate. So my take on the tervigon is basically a big transport carrying a psyker (who cannot disembark) and an unpredictable/variable number of troops, rather than a single defined squad.

The thinking was: 2 wounds - 2 man crew; T6 - armoured; S8 shot, that's a bit like a krak missile, but you can move and shoot - on wheels. Overall I thought a small, armoured, mobile firing platform with a missile launcher would represent the hive guard stats quite well.

I've been busy!

First off, some more Ogryn hybrids (warriors) in a similar style to the warrior prime posted previously.

This pair started life as LW/BS warriors:




But I changed my mind while painting them and ended up changing them for DS warriors:

.... and to continue, new vehicles.. first of all, I painted my "tyrannofex". There's pics of it unpainted on page 2 I think...





And now... my genestealer cult "Trygon".

This is made out of a forgeworld hades breaching drill, baal predator sponson bolters and plasticard:

Now, I know what you're thinking - it's too short off the ground and people will moan...

I am in the process of building the base terrain - a large crater from which the "trygon" is emerging. Still obviously very much work in progress, but to give you an idea of scale:



It's magnetised to the base for easy of transport.
