i finally decided to make myself a tyranofex, after going over all the rules and doing a few carifex-sub runthroughs. so far, i like them alot, and i can see myself feilding a few in some situations.
that aside, i wanted to keep mine with a feel very much like the concept art in the book. since 80% of my army conforms to some semblance of GW order, i try to keep the mods and scratches similar.
unfortuantly, i lack any of the WIP shots since i pretty much just slapped him together a few layers of GS at a time, over the course of a weekend. didnt think about it untill the work was done, and the primer was applied.
basicly though, it started with most of a carnifex kit, minus the body itself (used), and half the trygon kit, minus the head and tail (used XD)
using the trigon upper body, and the carnifex lower body the body came together as a hunched over beast that would be dragging itself around. the head was cut in half and i used some plastic tubing from the hobby store to start making a stubby barrel. head was attached to the barrel, and all that was stuffed into the head socket of the body. the barrel was still far too small though (think half size of what i ended up with in the photos below) so it went through several revisions before i got the shape i wanted. it involved grafting a second half-barrel to it brining the size up, and forcing the gun to hang right over the body's chest. this was perfect, since i wanted the gun coming out of the body anyways. the rest evolved from my attempts to cover up the initial GSing and plasticard. afterwords it was easy enough to cut and postion the hind legs, and cut and repostion some scything talons.
once primed, you can't even see the sloppy work.

so far ive got the base coat applied, but ill wait till its painted better to post more. might see something by the end of the weekend
