Tau commander and firewarriors

Hey all, I just finished my tau xv8 battlesuit commander and decided to get some feed back from, well, you. And just for the heck of it I threw in my firewarriors as well.

Here they are, be get ready to be amazed.

The extra 2 drones are from the devilfish that I'm about to start, when he's done I'll throw up some pics of him.

bases look good, and i like the colors you picked

The colours are good and the bases look nice too. But the models are spoilt by you not cleaning them up. I can clearly see the sprue marks on the side of the commander, which is sad. The paint looks a little thick on the commander too as you can see the brush stroke lines in places (unless you going for that).

Overall, good TT quality. What could be better is using water (if you don't already) more extensively while painting white, it's notoriously known for being easy to mess up with. How do you basecoat your minis? Black I guess, go over all the area you want to paint white with a solid (several layers!) coat of grey before applying white, it gives depth and makes it easier to not screw up.
The lenses of the commander are unpainted, unacceptable!

In general you need to do more (thin) layers, on a lot of places it's either uneven, too thin or too thick. Don't worry though, practice makes perfect.

ya I'm working on different methods and styles of applying the paint.

I haven't tryed applying layers. So to do that I should water down the paint, right? Yah I think I'll try that and see if I can get it right before I do the devilfish.

The lenses on the commander are painted but the lighting is really bad and you can't see it.

Aye, that's correct. Try adding different amount of water (It changes what you can use the paint for) on a palette and/or a test model, preferably one with large flat surfaces (Tau don't really lack those) so the paint doesn't run around like crazy should you add too much water.

That method totally worked, I've begun repainting and wow, I thought they looked white before but now, holy ****.

I must say I didn't have high hopes for this method but **** that worked, almost to well.

Hey finished repainting the white on my commander, all four of the drones and two of the firewarriors. I'm going to post a before and after of the commander either tonight or tomorrow.

The lighting was different so it's not very noticeable. Although it's very noticeable on his legs.

I could probably put another coat on him but truth be told I just don't want to. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
