Winged Tyranid Warrior (plenty of pics)

Hi

I'm pretty new here, and am starting up a tyranid army. I decided to try to build my own wings for my tyranid warrior brood, and I found some pretty good directions at www.necrotales.com. Here is the result, hope you like.









I had to greenstuff his mouth to create the bio plasma, turned out ok, I think.


Wing detail took some time, but was fun to do



The base represents the fact that the invasion is well under way and the digestion has begun



I hope you like him, but please give your comments, be they good or bad, I can only learn by getting some real criticism

That warrior rocks, it's beautiful. The wings look great, and the painting matches up.

The only thing that worries me, is if it will stay on the table for long enough to make it worth all your effort

Soooo much yellow! Much better

I really like the conversion and the painting is well done, but that much yellow makes my eyes want to go run and hide

I've always wanted to see someone else try that Necrotales wing conversion. I thought about using the technique myself, but then decided to go with Bug-type Wings instead.

Love it, looks better than my winged warrior brood. Well a little.

The color scheme looks almost identical from the one from Necrotales, though...

Hey guys, thanks for the positive feedback

To sum it up, yeah I took alot from necrotales, I just really like his stuff. He's got some useful tips and tutorials, and I might add that I learned streaking from that website.

And yeah, it's quite yellow! I wanted my swarm to be a flash of colours to blind my opponent before I eat his soldiers. Now I just have to fins the time to paint the rest of the swarm.....

Youv'e probibly spent as much time on that guy as I did on my entire warrior brood.

How did you make the wings? I can't find it on that website, www.necrotales.com.

Hell, I might even use the techniques to convert guants into [glow=red,2,300]cheap gargoyles![/glow]

odd, i didnt see this thread until after i just made my latest conversion, its oddly similar, and i was planning on doing the bioplasma like that as well. beautiful work

I agree on the yellow, a bit harsh. I can see the highlight but for some reason it looks flat. Might be the camera

That's very cool. Great wings, great Bioplasma, and great colour scheme - looks almost the same as mine!
The wings are a little too large for my taste (would be a nightmare trying to transport that anywhere) but aside from that, great stuff.
