Good Afternoon Hive!

Genestealers are done :) And I went after the board and started Putting Sharpy Circles down for where each hole will be. I see a problem with the big Oval shape stands but I'll figure that out when I get there :)

Wanted to get stuff done sense I will be out tomorrow.
More card board on the edge, sand and holes drilled. through some rocks on as well. Tomorrow when I'm actually alive I'll do a write up on tips on how to drill the holes and deal with the darn oval shape of doom!

Good Evening Hive!
Finished up gluing and filing 21 gaunts yesterday.

Tonights Update: Whew, 1 can of chaos black later I have a base coat on the display board. Decided to put the mini's in to get a feel of how it looks so far.
Tips:
So Tips Planning and drilling the Holes. Start off with getting the models exactly where you want them. Take a Vertical Shot so you now have a map of where your models will go. Pull the models from the board. take a base for size of base your using and get a nice snug fitting for a flying base to fit in the center of it. this is going to be your "Grip". Look at your map and start drawing your circles according to where you mapped out your models.
Drill Prep:
Take a ruler and get a good Idea of how deep you need to go per hole. Take some electrical take and tape off your bit so that you know when to stop (be careful, debris can hide your tape easily!). If you have a chance make a test board and do some testing before you go to your display board to get a feel of the materials you will be going through. In this project we are drilling through cork board and plywood. I am using a 1inch and 40mm forstner bits. For me I found that slow and steady worked well (remember to always keep the drill bit up and down). Once the hole was created and the drill bit didn't want to move around I sped it up to get to my desired depth.

For the Oval(trygon / Tervigon / Tyrannofex) and 65mm Holes (Tyrant)
I didn't have a drill bit. What I did for this process (luckly im working with cork!) was cut on the sharpie outline with a exacto knife along my guides. For the oval: Drill 4x1inch holes and for the 65mm hole a 40mm dead center. From there I used a very small putty knife to work away the cork board and scrape what was left from the glue that was holding it to the base.

Here are some Images:
Fostner Bit 1inch, 40mm (you can get 65mm)

Evening Hive!

Thanks Deathnid Hopefully I can pull it off :)

Tonight was a slow night, had to do a rebuild of a friends laptop so that was a time sink and had to put Vista back on (YUCK!)...

Tonight I finished putting on the Rakarth Flesh, Agrax Earthshade and Nuln Oil. Sadly I only have shots of the First two at the moment but tomorrow I'll post the Nuln Oil and finish up putting all the bushes everywhere tomorrow. After that its going to e a hold till the water effects dry on the test board and i do some painting on top of the water effect. :)

Enjoy!

@norn I'm hoping with more water effect it gives it more depth and darkens it a bit. Dropped in a second layer last night so we shall see what that looks like when I get home :)
Trying for a water looking blue rather then lava or slime or goo sense i dont want the terrain to be as bizy as my models. Lava & snow is so heavily used right now I figure it would be cool to just see blue greenish water.

Have a nice afternoon!

Well Good Afternoon Everyone,

No Post Last night because well... I fell asleep! bha!

Time to make it up!

So To start off Ive finally decided on the paint combination for the water and here is the list:
Base Coat Stegadon Scale Green.
First layer Caledon Sky
Dry Brush Etherium Blue
Wash with Coelia Greenshade.
I plan on doing 3 layers of Water effect to get the Desired Effect.
[image] [image]
I have picked up so
me clay to manage doing the edges of the board.
I plan on taking some clear wrap around the edges and then press clay against it to form a layer place for the liquid water effect to hit up against. (hopefully it works!) from there its just a waiting game. I plan on having the water area done with the 4 above layers completed tonight and if its dry before the nights over start getting the clay into position so i can add the water effect tonight or tomorrow morning.
Enjoy!

And another Update!
Painting as I go along and adding Clay to the edges with a Plastic Liner to get a edge for the edge of the board. Waiting on the Wash or "Shade" as they put it to dry then pouring in the liquid effects.
[image] [image] [image] [image] [image] [image] [image] [image] [image] [image] [image]

Thats all for now more to come!
Enjoy!

Alright >.<,
By far the Biggest Blunder I have yet to take in my opinion.
Clay Check! Plastic edge Check! Didn't think about the center of gravity not being perfect or the fact that im working with good old plywood and well you know thats never level >.< after about a hour of playing put the next random object under the board did I finally get it dead center again. have 7 Submerged Holes >.<, Edges Look like they are holding no major leaking anywhere other then in the Model Holes which I'm crossing my fingers will drill out with my bit and not totally screw me.

Other then that it a "Experience" I have learned from. next time I would attempt pouring it in portions rather then the entire board...

Any how here are some pictures. (Note the tint of the water effect is currently making it very blue because the water effect is very foggy at the moment.

[image] [image] [image] [image]

Hopefully this still turn out okay >.< we shall see...
Time to let time do its job and go prime some Ravener's and get my thoughts off of that table >.<

Have a nice Evening!
(just took one of the bits to the test board. Drilled through the water effect like it was butter!! Whew)

Hello,

Still almost dry... need input on weather or not to do a second coat. I'm almost thinking the 1 coat did enough but would love peoples input.
