Hello!

My name is melv and I'm new to this forum,
I started on hivefleet Mastodon about 2004/2005,
worked on it about a year, and after that had a long break from it. (mostly since ALL my friends started to play fantasy instead of 40k

)
I recently bought the latest codex and got
inspired to work with it again.
Nids are after all my favourite army, the first one I started out with when I began my warhammer journey in the late 90's :]

This will be kind of a work in progress blog, where I'll put most of my stuff, I'll guess I create a showcase-thread in the painting section later, where I show my painted models.

If mods think this thread dont belong here, fell free to move it.

Alright! Enough formalities! now on to the nids! ;D

Last days I've been working on two models in particular;

Tyranid Prime:

head:

Torso:

(normal warrior comparison)

just testing out, (these legs actually belongs to my tyranid warrior with barded strangler) The warrior to the right has my old colorscheme.

This is the actual base, and since the styrofoam is pretty fragile to glue a model onto, I pinned the legs trough the base.
Legs were cut and reposed.

Second model is the Doom of Malantai which I just started out on;

Very nice starts to these guys. Like how big the prime is looking, seen it done easier with a ravener body but you and me just beefed out a warrior lol. Gj, liking how this is going. Once my Doom has a base to float over I will be posting pics of him, went off in a totally different direction but had a similar start with the trygon skull. Got to see what you do for a swarmy.

@zildjan: That can be a good way to go! After I had read the rules for it, I thought the model were so crazy that I had to try out one! Must be so fun and random to play with ^^
Then there's always so fun to make a model that has no original model, so one can go all crazy with ideas while making their own! x) Mine will look pretty simillar to a normal Zoanthrope, though a bit bigger and more intimidating :]

Phenious: Yeah, the raverner body seem like the best/easiest way to go, but I already have lots of of old raveners, and have no plan of buying 3 more just to convert one into a prime xD so yeah, beefing up warriors FTW!
Then I always like the challenge aswell :]
Cool! now I got interested to see you DoM! ^^

Alright, the posting-thingy acts a little wierd, but I'll try to post

Done Some more work today on both the Prime and DoM

since I'm such a cheap*ss, I fill out most bulk with styrofoam, greenstuff is expensive! xD

Body

Decided to make the last carapace plate on his head longer, so it would match other Zoanthropes better. The thing that sticks out ontop is supposed to be carved into a horn, but since I stretched the carapace now, I have to cut it and redo it further back.

Good job so far. The only thing I do not understand is what is the "NIB" on the top of the DoM's head? It ruins the menacing look of what you have made so far. If that is what you like, keep it then, but it ruins it for me.
