NEW TYRANID - MODELING COMPETITION!

The intention of this competition is to encourage everyone to get involved in short-term projects, exchange advice, and hopefully help to completely build any models in the NEW TYRANID RANGE that do NOT currently have a purchasable model from GW.
Also this thread will be used to show ALL conversions of the new tyranid range for easy reference for anyone interested in creating their own.

SO EVERYONE PLEASE POST PICTURES OF YOUR CONVERTED MODELS!!! (Even if you arent interested in entering the competition!!!)


The goal is to completely convert or scratch build any model from the NEW TYRANID RANGE that do NOT currently have a purchasable model from GW. As each of the Models are released by GW a poll will be created to determine the best entry under each category. In the event that one of these models are not released by GW and just require a previous model to be converted "Swarmlord perhaps?" The voting poll will have 1 months notice for everyone to complete their entry for that category. All forum users are encouraged to participate in the voting process. The winner will receive a banner to add to their forum signature.


The models will be voted on under each category as follows..

BEST TERVIGON

BEST SWARMLORD

BEST PARASITE OF MORTREX

BEST DOOM OF MALANTAI

BEST TYRANID PRIME

BEST TYRANNOFEX

BEST HARPY

BEST MYCETIC SPORE



Additional information:

Feel free to enter the competition anytime before the new models are released, however joining later will reduce the amount of time you have to complete your entry.
You may enter models that are also entered in the bi-monthly competitions.


When posting pictures please refrain from including too many in a single post, aim to have fewer then four per post. More pictures can be included using an on line photo album or with direct links using the URL tag. Also please make sure to include pictures of the finished model and preferably a few from different viewing angles.


Decorative bases, no flash lines, drilled barrels will all count towards the final result, along with pose, any conversion work done, and so forth. Do the best you can do.


At any time feel free to post updates, questions, thoughts, requests for suggestions or advice. WIP shots are greatly encouraged as it increases participation and is a great source of inspiration for other forum users with their own projects.

Start posting final pictures as soon as you finish them. Late entries will not be accepted. IF POSSIBLE final results should NOT BE PRIMED or UNDERCOATED so that it will be easier to see the conversions done. Feel free to use an ink wash to define fine details that you may have modeled.

I'll post my Tervigon when it's finished.
The problem is, I'm not sure that GW will ever release models for a lot of these. They might make a Tervigon, Tyrannofex and maybe a Harpy (or, more likely, Forge World will, but who knows), but I very much doubt the others will ever get an official model since they are all just modifications of an unit, and are designed to be converted. You might want to put some kind of expiration date on this, or it might never end :)

Nice, I already made a Tyranid Prime, Parasite and working on a Tyrannofex, all are in my project log but I'll post them all once I finish GSing the tyrano. Of course I'll try out a DoM later as well, don't know about the tervigon looks like alot of GS work, I'm scared of excessive GS work lol

This will definitely be an interesting thread :D

My Tyrannofex was build a bit before the new codex, out of Ebayed carnifex and spare parts. WIP shots are not so good, so you get one of each :-)
