Still looks good man, the army is going to look very striking. I expect it will look better and better the more models you complete. I'm just about to start painting some venomthropes myself...

@Carnithrope: Well, I started painting my army halfway through the first painting competition (so early February) and had 20 done by the end of it (along with my tyrant, trygon and 3 warriors). This two month period I've been much busier so I haven't had as much time for painting, but I got another 12 gaunts done (along with my tervigon and two zoanthropes). Nearly there! =)

Very tempted to prime white now for my nid scheme. Washes have such a stronger affect on white and work so well. It makes me want to really redivise my plan.

That layering looks good, did you do it when the paint was wet? because it works better if you wait for it to dry first imo. Maybe give feathering a go? I think you are very skilled bro and I like your scheme :)

The layering looks good but I think it needs to go even lighter. Try next a 50/50 mix of that green and fortress grey, then a very light edge feather of pure fortress grey. Should help make it look more like a natural, boney structure. Also it'd help to randomize your feathering a but more, because a the moment each clear layer of color is noticeable (though that might be because I prefer to do my layering by feathering, so I would say that).

Now that I think about it, fortress grey is the color I use because I highlight turquoise (which cools down to a light, boney grey); I think with that with green a warmer shade (maybe bleached bone) might suit better, but not sure. Anyways, there be my two cents

Heeeey welcome back man! You timed it perfectly because the new edition of the game comes out soon and it looks like tyranids might be a little better than they are now. And also I just returned to the game too =)
