I'm new to Warhammer and I chose Tyranids almost immediately.
Now I'm at this point just practicing techniques but I'm still thinking about colors. I like some of the color schemes in the codex, but I'm also considering ideas outside it.
Part of what drew me to Tyranids is how they reminded me of the aliens from the Alien movies. Hive mind, devouring everything, etc.
I'm curious about coming up with a dark color scheme like that of the aliens, but not just all black.
I'm just wondering if anyone here can give any suggestions. There is plenty of time as I'm just practicing right now. I'm in no rush.
Thanks in advance.

While I dont have any pictures, some pre-painted gaunts I bought of ebay had a cool darker template, and I think I've seen a similar scheme on the hive. They were bases black, then lightly painted with a dark purple, then highlighted with a bright blue that helped some of the raised portions stand out, though not to starkly.

I saw a similar scheme I think, but it was just a small avatar pic and so far I haven't been able to locate more pics. The person who's avatar pic it was hasn't logged in for around 5 or 6 months I believe, according to the profile. I'd be curious to see the full effect of the colors he used.

This has a nice darkish grey tone which you might like (you can paint the carapace differently its your choice).

Thank you both for the links.
I have never even thought of making mine look like the aliens in shape, just in color. That alienids link is great!
I haven't had time to watch the entire youtube link yet, so I don't know the end result of that, but definitely thank you for the link.
