I just can't convince myself to buy the thing! First, its freaking huge! Do I really want to carry a 16lb book with me everywhere? But beyond that, only serious fans of 40k buy the BRB, everyone else gets the starter. But how many people who have it need the hobby info? The people who need a basic painting guide are the ones who probably will not buy the BRB and thus will never see it. You used to get a softcover version with the starter (granted, I'd rather have figs with which to PLAY a game).
My biggest gripe though isn't the horridly confusing layout or the fact that my friends' copy has already started to warp (wtf?) But more the fact that centerfolds belong in a playboy (and you can't even tear these out and pin em up). They're like just asking to have pages ripped, worn or tattered.
I've been playing fantasy (go high elves!) For about 15 years now and always bought the BRB only to end leaving it at home for something easier to carry (my back is bad enough as it is).
Bring on the new starter GW, daddy needs a real rulebook.

That's why most people dont have one right now. I don't care much for the fluff and painting tips in the middle. They actually get on my nerves. It's not I don't enjoy fluff... It's I don't enjoy fluff about the empire and it's glory, and "speculation" about other amies from the point of view from the empire.
We had 8 people put in 10 dollars to split one, which is why every once and a while I'll be able to cite rules and other days I won't.

Its huge, weighs a ton, is poorly structured and most likely will start falling a part fairly soon but I really like it. Sure, I read my scanned version on my ipad more frequently, but I quite like the "new Bible".

Poorly structured? Clearly the posters in this thread have never played Warmachine/Hordes. Their rulebook is so painstakingly unintuitive that I can't pick it up without raging. Heh other games aside, the real issue with the book is that it's massive. Lugging it around is a pain, especially when I've got monstrous creatures and swarms taking up so much room.

There, fixed it for you. Seriously, I can't stand the unending idiocy of the empire. I read the fluff and I get bored and scream "I get it, I get it! The empire is galactically stupid!" When it finally does meet its doom it will mostly have itself to thank.

The main reason the book is so big is it helps you win rules arguments against people with the little book. You just hit them with it until they submit.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who can't get himself to buy the Imperium Bible. I have zero interest in reading about moronic humans and their messups, I can read up on politics and news anytime I want! Really looking forward to the starter rule book. Sad though as I would really love to have a gorgeous 40k rulebook but it's way to Imperium-centric for me to care.

I like the fluff, honestly its one thing I feel GW has always put out great fluff. Kinda reminds me of the all news network from starship troopers. I just can't get over the fact that the people who "need" that stuff never will see it. Seems backwards to me.

I like most everything about it, except for the sheer bulk and weight. It's nice for my "home copy" because that's not an issue here, and it's easier on my eyes to read the larger type.
I have to say, tho, there's a Tournament I'm considering attending later this Month, and one of the big arguments against it is that I don't want to haul that Tome down to Olympia.
I met someone at the OFCC last weekend who had the Special Edition. That thing is a work of art. Absolutely gorgeous book. And about 50% bulkier and heavier to boot

I think what GW should have done is: Add small core rulebook to the big one and charge 10€/15$ extra. people would totally buy it

I actually love the BRB. I love the fluff, the pictures, the guides, but still can't find myself getting it. Why spend $80 on a book when I can spend $90 on essentially the same book, but get $60 worth of models? The game is so expensive; I'll take good deals when I can find them.

I always hated the Hobby section personally. I've NEVER found those things useful since 3rd ed, back when they had imagination instead of 'We glued a different axe to this Orc and you can't tell, it's that good!' Pff.
As for Painting, it's all a bit 'And here's one I prepared earlier!'. Sigh....
EDIT: As for Imperial Speculation regarding other armies... I dunno, I like the idea of that. Older dexes were all like that and it made armies like Nids, DE and Crons in particular rather terrifying and mysterious.

Honestly, we are on here complaining about the weight of a book??? Sometimes I wish Darwinism was still occurring.
I really enjoyed the new 6th ed. book, much more than than the 5th ed. ~ for the price, I want something that is jammed packed full of information. The fluff is interesting and I feel more bleak in this one.
