| | Do you think my Mysetic Spore is too big? « Thread Started on Jul 11, 2012, 6:28am » | |
So as the thread says do you think my spore is too big? and im more talking about the base of it. The reason i used the parts i did was because it was all free. i still am going to add more detail but before i go any further i would like input on the base of it. I will post pics of my construction so you can see.

lol, Attack of the Alien Tomatoes! looks great, but it doesn't look too organic, maybe some cheap air dry clay for some carapace plates would do it some good.

I don't like the can, because it looks like a can, but I'm intrigued by the veins. How did you do those?

you know what would be cool is if the can was painted like some form of cylinder from a imperial space craft with tyranid growths all over it. In the book Desert raiders the nids did exactly that, incorporating destroyed imperial vessals into their spore pods. Size wise its fine, gotta fit a unit or mc in there.

Well, I could imagine some people might whine a little to Tournaments... but if people in your area use to be very friendly, then I don't think there should be a problem.

Deathnid: That's what I'm trying to do is not make it too much like a can. The air dry clay might be a good idea to make it more organic looking, and not so perfectly round.
Nurglitch: the veins were just hot glue that I slowly dragged across the surface.
Swarm492: not sure how or what I could do to make that, sounds very intriguing though.
Like I said this cost me nothing but a few sticks of hot glue, so it won't be too bad if I just start over, I have a 3" PVC pipe with a round cap that I was going to try to use with expanding foam, but that might be even bigger than this. But we will see.

Yeah the people in my area are really cool. So they wouldn't have much of a problem.

Id say just battle damage it up, add some pipes for a industrial feel, looks of nid growth with green stuff or some ooze with hot glue and then paint it. Add a tank sized imperial decal of some sort and you good. It would be a work in progress but would be interesting if you could pull it off.

Honestly, it looks more like a terrain piece than a spore to me. I'm all for unique designs but this really does look too.... mechanic. It really looks like a can, whether that's a tin can or a bulky escape pod. I think swarmy has a good idea, and if you want to pull it off as simply as possible, just add the Imperial aquilla to the outside of it and paint it up rusty. If you want to put more love into it, definitely add more organic details to it. Add more cysts, more tendrils, and try and covr up the rim and the lid, because those make it obviously a can. On the inside, maybe ad some simple bench seating and try and add hot glue on the inside to make it look like vines of ooze dripping down the walls and the ceiling. If you have the talent, try and make some panels for the outside and inside, and you need ideas than look at pictures of Space Marine or Imperial vehicles and look at the Terrian GW makes for ideas on the design.
Also, adding more tendrils might help the design too, right now they're sparse and the even placement of them doesn't feel very organic. However, if you have OCD, don't torture yourself with lopsided tendrils, just add maybe 2 or 4 more.
