For a long time, i had always wanted to own a tyranid assault brood.
for those of you that dont know, the assault brood was a box set that was realeased for a limited time by games workshop to promote the apocalypse expansion (a few years back)
it contained 32 gaunts, 6 warriors, 3 fex and 16 stealers.
well, cruising through ebay, i found one on ebay, i promptly bidded at full force for 7 days, and i won:

a few have been messily painted, and will have to be simple greened, and a few (mostly fex) need to be converted with new arms etc.
anyway, really wanted to show everyone this, and im looking forward to working with it.
oh wait, i forgot to say how much i got it for: 117 australian dollars! What a bargain!

Knowing by now what the prices in australia are, I'd say it is a hell of a bargain!

Dang, 80 bucks for a new fex? That is bad. I knew the prices were different but that is a lot more than what I get them for...
But great catch on the Assault Brood. I always wanted to get one but that is when I started out playing so back then I didn't have the money to get something like that.

I was looking into buying nids back then but talked my self out of it. I am still kicking my self for not buying as many as I could. Those were truly great deals.

I'd rather they kept the assault brood and dithched the battleforce. Like what slartybartfast said its actually a proper army that can start off with. Bring the Assualt Brood Back! PLEASE!!!!!!!!

it's a really cheap box set but the problem is, you can only use it in an apocalypse battle (without taking a few models out) and it doesn't have an HQ so thats another £30 or $45 spent on some hive tyrant( even though personally my fave is the tyranid prime)javascript:add(%22%20:)%22).

im sorry to necron this thread, but i stumbled upon it and it spiked my curiosity.
i want one, but i didnt know id have to remove a few units so it is viable....what units are these and why would i have to remove them except for appocalypse games?
