Dragon wings - making them more "niddy"

A couple more pictures straight on.

I think it looks awesome as it. Chances are he would regenerate between battles at least if not during!

I got a bit further with the "niddy-fication" of the dragon wings.



I started out by attaching the first type of scything talon (shown in the previous pictures) so that the blade pointed outwards as a type of weapon. It didn't really flow well with the wing so I opted for the other type of scythe that came with the tyrant and modeled the blade so it flows along the edge of the wing.

This just need a bit more tidying up on the backside before I turn to the front.

Jesus man! You have some serious GS skills there. I love it! Keep it up!

EDIT: I have just read the DakkaDakka article you posted and I have to say, your wings are a lot better! You should take some of the ideas for the body though.

Epic idea! Makes it so they can be switched out! Love it! Got to get me some dragon wings now. This my friend is the best idea I have seen yet for tyrant wings. Might use this myself but I will be using it on the 3rd ed tyrant, old smiley as some may call them. Love the idea and how it is turning out.

I finally finished sculpting the underside and also added some detail to the edges of the wings including a couple of toxic spines.







The spines were kind of an after-though - the thing is I remember being chased by an angry swan (or was is a goose?) when I was a kid. Those wings, flimsy as they looks, can actually hit very hard which shouldn't be surprising considering the chest muscles seen on flying animals.

I'm still waiting for the magnets that I'm going to use to magnetize the thing, but other then that the conversion is complete.

I may have overdone the sculpting a bit, but basically what makes this a "niddy" wing in my opinion, would be the attachment of scything talons along the top/edge of the wing, and the sculpted finger bones. Both are fairly easy to do.
